Shelby & Evan

There are some couples you photograph, and then there are couples you feel. Shelby and Evan are the latter.

I have known Shelby since middle school. We grew up, life happened the way it does, and yet she found her way to our website… and asked us to be there for one of the biggest days of her life. That kind of trust is not something we take lightly. Ever.

Walking into the Highland Loft last October, we already knew this day would be something special. What we didn't fully anticipate was just how much it would move us.

Shelby is one of those people who radiates warmth in every direction. And Evan, the way he looks at her says everything you need to know about who he is. Their first look stopped me in my tracks. I have photographed many first looks. This one we will never forget.

The memory of Shelby’s Dad was so beautifully woven throughout the day. The love and intention with which they honored him, in the words spoken and the moments held, was deeply moving. I found myself blinking back tears more than once behind my camera, and I know that I was not alone. It was the kind of grief that sits right next to joy, and somehow makes the joy even bigger.

And then… the party. Because Shelby and Evan also know how to celebrate. The dance floor was alive, the energy was infectious, and the love in that room was loud and proud and so incredibly full. Classic, timeless, and completely unforgettable from the very first moment to the very last song.

Shelby and Evan, thank you for keeping in touch. Thank you for choosing us. This one meant the world.

Shelby and Evan, we have been thinking about how to put this day into words ever since we drove home that October night with a full heart and happy tears still drying on our cheeks.

Thank you for trusting us with this day. Thank you for keeping us in the back of your mind. This wedding will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
