Some sessions feel different from the start, and Grace and Luke's was one of them. Grace and Drew and I go back to our college days, so when she reached out to ask us to photograph her and Luke's engagement session, it meant so much more than a booking. It felt like a real honor.
We met Grace and Luke at Matthiessen State Park, one of our favorite spots for its dramatic canyons and quiet, layered beauty. We hiked down into the canyon together, cute puppies included, to reach one of the park's waterfalls, and the whole thing came together perfectly.
We then found this Beautiful field of flowers to get some beautiful shoot through shots. Storm clouds were building on the horizon the entire time we were shooting, but the weather held just long enough for us to get everything we wanted before it rolled in.
There's something about shooting under a little pressure, racing the sky, that adds an energy to a session. Grace and Luke leaned into it, laughing their way down the trail with their dogs, completely unbothered by the timing. By the time we wrapped, the light had gone moody and soft, exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes for the best kind of photos.
Grace and Luke, thank you for trusting us with this one. We can't wait for the wedding.
XOXO,
